The city of Agoura Hills is now taking applications from individuals who wish to serve on the city’s Cultural Arts Council (CAC). Established in 2011, the Cultural Arts Council works with the City Council and community members on developing cultural arts public programs and opportunities within the greater Agoura Hills community and region.
Serving on the CAC is open to anyone who is interested in the arts with educational and/or career experience that can help further the city’s current programs while continuing to develop new objectives and signature events. While only in its first term, the CAC has already branded a strong 91301 cultural arts identity, launched the website 91301.org, and developed public programs and events spotlighting local talent in the art, film and literary industries. Among the popular programs are the Art at the Adobe exhibitions, the Film 91301 series, Art in Public Places, and history programs that connect residents to the city’s cultural heritage.
“The charter members of our Cultural Arts Council were an incredible board that had the vision and ability to take an idea and successfully launch it into a vibrant and growing art-focused environment, connecting professional artists, the entertainment industry, and organizations with schools and residents. We hope to find enthusiastic individuals who would like to continue the council’s mission,” said Agoura Hills Director of Community Services Amy Brink. The CAC fosters an environment in which the arts make a major contribution to the vitality of the community through special public programs and events and helps to create networking and educational opportunities.
Applications are available online at the city’s website, www.ci.agoura-hills.ca.us, or can be mailed upon request by contacting City Hall at 818-597-7300. The deadline for submitting applications to City Hall is Friday, December 30, at 5 p.m.
Applicants will be interviewed, selected and recommended to the City Council. For more information on the Cultural Arts Council, contact Agoura Hills Community Service Director Amy Brink at (818) 597-7353 or by email email@example.com.
