The City of Agoura Hills and the Cultural Arts Council (CAC) kicks off the 2019 Art Gallery Series with a Solo Artist Show, “A Lifetime Passion” featuring fine art painter Scott Lindner. The exhibit opens February 7, 2019 at the Agoura Hills Recreation and Event Center. Lindner’s fine art has been part of exhibitions at the J. Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles, MONA in London and the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.
“We selected Scott for our Solo Artist Show because his colorful and interactive Wings installation was such a success with the public at Reyes Adobe Days,” said Cultural Event Coordinator Kimberly Aceytuno, referring to the city’s fall festival celebrating local culture. “We had members of the community asking to see more of his work and are excited to bring his new exhibit to the community.” Lindner is a resident of the San Fernando Valley.
Originally from Ohio, Lindner has studied with renown artists since his teens and his student works were included in exhibitions at Youngstown State University and the Butler Institute of American Art where he also won significant awards. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors from Youngstown State University and has periodically returned there to teach.
Lindner has created a new, innovative technique of painting on canvas using pure mineral pigments mixed into acrylic resin that results in hauntingly beautiful imagery. His technique has earned him a finalist spot in the 2019 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship Competition.
“A Lifetime Passion” will display Lindner’s most recent works in his equestrian series that has been featured in Dwell Magazine, LA Design Magazine, 805 Living, and Hidden Hills Magazine. Also on view are his contemporary Native American portraitures created on sanded paper and inspired by Lindner’s passion for the work of Edward S. Curtis who authentically photographed Native American culture in the early 1900s.
Opening reception for “A Lifetime Passion” is Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 6:00 – 9:00pm. The Agoura Hills Recreation and Event Center is located at 29900 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. Admission is free. The exhibit runs through February and is open during business hours Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm. For more info about the event, email email@example.com or call 818-597-7361. The show is part of the Cultural Arts Council’s Art Gallery Series introducing local artists to the community through a variety of curated art shows. The series also serves as a fundraiser for the Cultural Arts Council’s high school student art scholarship program. “Our series is an opportunity for the public to discover local artistic talent and help support future artists in their community,” said Aceytuno. The Art Gallery Series is sponsored by the Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council and the City of Agoura Hills.
